Founded in 1902, Flaxton, North Dakota is part of Richland Township in Northwest North Dakota’s Burke County. Flaxton has been a community of homestead heritage, rich agricultural land, commerce, crude oil exploration and railway prominence.

Flaxton’s Burke County World War I Memorial Hall has been cared for, preserved and restored by devoted community members since its construction in 1931 on land given by the City of Flaxton with initial construction costs of 25,000 provided by the city. The Hall was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 2017 and continues to provide for Community groups: The Flaxton Senior Citizens Center, Burke County Veterans Memorial and Flaxton School Library and Raider Room.

Come visit our Memorial Hall and see the vintage cinematic equipment, remaining in- tact in the projector room. Tours of the Hall may be arranged through the Flaxton Community Club and are scheduled during the Burke County Fair, held annually the 3rd weekend of June. Please see the Burke County Fair web site for details.
